Trey Barkley Death & Obituary: It is with deep sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Trey Barkley, a resident of Statesville, North Carolina, who died suddenly on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the age of 17. Trey was born on May 24, 2007, to Wilfred Lewis Barkley II and Jodi Lynn Barkley. While the cause of his death has not been disclosed, his loss has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.

A Young Life Full of Promise and Dedication

Trey was a dedicated student in the Early College program for Agriculture and Science, where he excelled in his studies and showed a strong interest in pursuing a future in education and the military. He was especially involved in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where he participated in various activities, embodying the values of faith and service. Trey’s commitment to his community extended beyond the church, as he was also an active member of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC), where he demonstrated leadership, discipline, and responsibility.

A Life Lived with Love and Joy

Trey’s passions were many, and he brought joy to everyone he encountered. He cherished time spent with his two best friends, Aidan and Rhys, and enjoyed the special moments he shared with his grandparents, “Papa” Robert Lewis and Diane “Deedee” Lewis, in Michigan. Trey had a love for music and fast cars and had a playful spirit that was evident in his fun-loving relationship with his younger brother, Caleb. A fan of hot sauce, Trey was known for his thoughtful, caring nature and civility, always making those around him feel valued and appreciated.

Remembering Trey: A Legacy of Kindness and Aspiration

Trey’s dreams of following in his father’s footsteps and pursuing a career in construction management, along with his plans to join the Marine Corps, were part of the bright future he had ahead of him. His determination, compassion, and positive influence will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Family and Friends Left to Honor Trey’s Memory

Trey leaves behind his parents, Wilfred Lewis Barkley II and Jodi Lynn Barkley; his brother, Caleb Barkley; his grandparents, Robert Lewis and Diane Lewis; his aunts and uncles, Lewis Barkley (Charity), Corie Jordan (John), Pike Jordan (Dawn), and Eric Lewis; his cherished pets, Cooper and Chase; his best friends, Aidan and Rhys; and a large circle of extended family and friends who deeply loved him.

Celebration of Life

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Trey on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where the Reverend Dieter Punt will preside. Following the ceremony, the family will warmly welcome friends and loved ones to join them in remembering Trey’s life and legacy.

Trey Barkley’s obituary will be released by the family. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
